The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has announced that some power generation companies may experience reduced gas supply following a planned four-day maintenance exercise by Seplat Energy Plc.
In a statement issued on Thursday by NNPC spokesperson, Andy Odeh, the national oil company disclosed that Seplat, a key gas supplier into the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC) pipeline network will carry out routine maintenance on its production facilities from February 12 to February 15.
According to NNPC, the exercise is part of standard safety and asset integrity protocols aimed at ensuring the long-term reliability and efficiency of critical gas infrastructure.
“This planned activity forms part of standard industry safety and asset integrity protocols designed to ensure the continued reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of critical gas infrastructure,” the company stated.

NNPC noted that during the maintenance window, gas supply into the NGIC pipeline network will temporarily decline. As a result, some power generation companies dependent on the network may record reduced gas availability, potentially leading to a modest dip in electricity generation within the period.
The company emphasized that both NNPC Ltd and Seplat Energy are coordinating closely to ensure the maintenance is completed safely and on schedule.
To cushion the impact, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) is engaging alternative gas suppliers to bridge anticipated supply gaps and maintain network stability.
Full gas supply into the NGIC system is expected to resume immediately after the completion of the maintenance exercise, allowing affected power plants to return to normal operations.
NNPC said further updates will be provided as necessary. EFA.
